Carlton Beach – this is a great little beach which is good for surfing, sunbaking and has some lovely walks around it. The scenery is very pretty and it attracts a good crowd on a hot day. It is popular with families.
Short Beach – This is a lovely little beach close to Battery Point where it is said that Errol Flynn learned to swim. There is even a park next to the beach named after him. Good for a quiet swim and a spot of sunbaking.
Seven Mile Beach – What a wonderful view! This is the beach that everybody comes to and is a good all purpose beach with shallow enough water to attract families. The sand stretches out for miles tempting joggers and walkers. Surfing is on the menu occasionally but that just depends on the wind.
Long Beach – This is the beach where all the action is happening. On any day when the weather is warm you will see snorkelers, sailors, swimmers and families just having fun. Close enough to see the city and near to Sandown Park where you can dine on the best seafood at Prossers or have a cocktail as the sun sets.
Clifton Beach This stunning beach has wonderful surf and attracts surfers from all over Tasmania. It is 25kms south east of Hobart and is fringed by the dunes of the coastal reserve. Pristine and spectacular, it is a great place to spend a day but beware f the rips if you are swimming or surfing. The Lifesaving Club is vigilant and needs to be as this is a dangerous stretch of water for the inexperienced.
