Hobart, located at the foot of Mount Wellington, is the harbour capital of Tasmania. As Australia’s second oldest capital city it is famous for its historical buildings and old world charm. It was also voted one of the world's top cities to visit in 2013 by Lonely Planet. Combining a love of fine food, music and the arts with beautiful natural surrounds, it is a safe and friendly place to live. Hobart also boasts some of the world's most magnificent cruising waters from the D'Entrecasteaux Channel south and up the Huon River estuary.  The maritime industry developed here was fundamental in driving Australia's maritime achievements and in fact in the very settling of Melbourne which was achieved from Tasmania. Tasmania is proud of its stunning National Parks and Bushlands that make it ideal for hikers and lovers of the great outdoors.
