Set between graceful plane trees and the mellow sandstone facades of historic warehouses, Hobart's famous Salamanca Market attracts thousands of locals and visitors. Enjoy the sights, sounds, flavours, action and colour of Australia's best outdoor market - proudly operated by the City of Hobart and is open every Saturday from 8:30am to 3:00pm at Hobart's Salamanca Place.
Walk across the Salamanca Lawns to the picturesque waterfront and docks, where hard-working fishing boats are berthed close to cruising yachts and a square-rigger or two.
The Port is a central focus for the City providing both a busy commercial hub and a place where residents and visitors alike can spend time strolling along the docks talking with the local fishermen, watching the large cargo vessels load and unload, while they sample fine Tasmanian produce at one of the many cafes and restaurants located around the cove.
Hobart is the gateway to the best quality food and boutique wines and the famous Tasmanian salmon, crayfish and cheeses, raspberries and strawberries, beers and chocolates. This unique setting provides for an ambience that you will not find in another city anywhere in the world.

Recent and continuing development in the city has energised the CBD, in keeping with the long-term vision for the city’s future.
Hobart is a city of opportunity, with exciting and continuing scope for investment and development. In defiance of current trends, Hobart is immersed in a period of exciting growth. The development program now taking place in the inner city is the largest in the capital’s history. Only recently Lonely Planet listed Hobart in the 10 must visit cities in the world, clearly telling the travelling public to “book their passage”.
