There are currently 43 Universities in Australia and many International students choose to complete their studies here. If you are an Australian permanent resident you are eligible to apply for a student loan scheme to assist with some of the cost of your studies. The Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) allows students to repay their loan once their income after graduation rises above $28,000 per annum. Non permanent residents are required to pay the annual fees in full and students who do not hold an Australian passport could also be charged additional fees on top of those that Australian passport holders pay for their university fees.
